Thank you for the compliment!! Sometimes I work so many hours and get so involved in working, that I forget the reason I started Dark Fire to begin with. I like to think that in some small way, I make a little bit of a difference and bring a bit of happiness to people. It also makes ME happy when people think I’m sexy! – big smile-
Uniform fetish? Yes, definitely! There are groups that form around the whole regimented attitude of wearing a uniform. In fact, last week in Austin, there was a fetish uniform party, and from what I heard, was a smashing success. I think the mindset of uniforms comes in part from the shedding of a unique individual and becoming something different, as with costumes. Unlike costumes, though, uniforms are generally associated with discipline, rigidity, ritual, belonging, and tradition. It is an outward symbol of becoming something slightly different and more serious than casual clothes. Any uniform is going to carry a certain feeling with it, and donning the uniform will usually convey that feeling. Examples: Imagine wearing a police officer’s uniform, and the feeling it would give you. Imagine the riding boots of a motorcycle cop, the belt with all of the things that belong with it. Now, imagine yourself in a French Maid uniform (seriously, no teasing). Think of how the stockings feel, the apron, and how people would perceive each one of these uniforms. In either case, your personae would probably change to fit the outward appearance, as well as the perception of those people around you. When I dress my slave in his French maid outfit, he talks softer, walks more delicately, and is more graceful. This is NOT imagination. While I think I can be just as dominant in bunny slippers as in black leather, there is a feeling that generally cannot help but be conveyed inward that reflects the outward dress.
What to do about it? Explore! You would be amazed at the links that you can find on the internet. I’ve heard of a women’s group here in Texas called the Dyke Uniform Corps, and I’m sure there are others. Not sure about exploring in a group? Try thrift shops! I’ve found anything from military dress uniforms, candy stripers, sailor’s outfits, doctor’s coats, private school outfits, UPS, postal and even Taco Bell outfits in thrift shops. Buy some and play dress-up with your partner, or take yourself out to a party. Have fun!
